Terms of Service

Terms for using ShareKit, a file and link service operated by Melis, an independent developer. Effective October 21, 2026.

Last updated: 2026-10-21

These terms apply to ShareKit at sharekit.app. They take effect on October 21, 2026.

Who operates ShareKit

ShareKit is operated by Melis, an independent developer. There is no company, registered office, or business address stated in these terms. Product questions go to support@sharekit.app. Abuse reports, copyright notices, and takedown requests go to abuse@sharekit.app. Plan and partnership questions go to hello@sharekit.app.

The service

ShareKit lets you upload a supported file and receive a public share page, a direct file URL, embed snippets, and QR code files. It also lets signed-in users create short links and QR codes whose destination can be edited later.

Public share pages and short links are reachable by anyone who has the address. They are not private folders. A Pro or Business file can have an optional password. The recipient enters it on the share page, and ShareKit stores a hash of that password, not the password itself. Without a password, anyone with the address can open the file. A password does not create a named-user account, and it does not record who entered it. Do not upload information that should only be available to a named person.

ShareKit does not scan every file for malware. It does reject a list of executable and installer extensions (including exe, dmg, and apk) and it checks that the extension matches an allowed type. That is a filter, not a guarantee that a file is safe.

Accounts

You may use lightweight uploads without an account when the upload has no credit cost. You are responsible for activity under an account you create, including keeping the sign-in method to yourself. Tell support if you believe the account is being used without your permission.

Acceptable use

You may not upload, link to, or distribute:

  • Malware, ransomware, exploits, or files meant to break into a system or device
  • Phishing pages, credential theft, or other scams
  • Content that is illegal where you upload it or where it is accessed
  • Sexual content involving anyone under 18, or any sexual content ShareKit is not set up to host
  • Adult sexual content
  • Someone else's copyrighted or trademarked material unless you have the rights to share it
  • Other people's private data, including identity documents, financial data, or medical records, without a lawful basis
  • Spam, bulk unsolicited messages, or attempts to overload the service

You also may not probe, scrape, or bypass access controls, rate limits, or upload checks, or resell the service as if you operated it.

Copyright and takedown

If you believe a file or link infringes a copyright you own, email abuse@sharekit.app with:

  • The public share URL, short link, or QR target
  • A description of the work and why you are the rightsholder or their agent
  • A statement that you believe the use is not authorized
  • Your name and a way to reply
  • This sentence: "I have a good faith belief that use of the material is not authorized, and the information in this notice is accurate."

Melis will review notices sent to that address and remove or disable material that appears to infringe. A counter-notice, if you believe a removal was a mistake, goes to the same address and should identify the URL and explain the mistake. These terms do not appoint a formal DMCA agent and do not list a postal address, because none is published for this service.

How long files and links stay up

Guest file uploads are saved with a 7-day expiry date. Files saved to an account are saved with a 30-day expiry date. Keep One File is a one-time purchase that moves that date out by at least a year for one specific upload, its URL, and its QR code. Signed-in short links are stored without an automatic expiry date. Guest short links are stored for 7 days and are refused after that date.

When the stored file date passes, the public file page, download, and file QR stop serving the file and show that the share is offline. Delete the upload to take it offline sooner. A reminder email can be sent before the stored date. If the owner has Pro or Business and turns the first-open alert on, ShareKit emails that account once when someone other than the owner opens the share page or downloads the file after the alert is turned on. That email names the file. It does not include the visitor's email address or IP address. Deleting a file stops the public page. It does not erase a copy someone already downloaded.

An owner can replace an uploaded file at the same address up to five times. Replacement does not extend the stored expiry by itself.

Deletion and abuse removal take a public page down. Do not use ShareKit as your only copy of a file. Do not print a QR code for longer than you are willing to leave that file online, or until you delete it.

Removal

Melis may remove a file or link, or close an account, that breaks these terms, that is the subject of a credible abuse or copyright report, or that puts the service or other people at risk. There is no obligation to keep a particular file online.

Credits and paid features

Files under 20MB have no credit cost. Larger files use the credit rule shown in the product: one credit for each 10MB block past the first 10MB. A file with a credit cost requires a signed-in account. Paid plans and the Keep One File purchase are described on the pricing page. Fees are charged by the payment processor configured for the site. If a purchase fails or is reversed, the related credit grant or expiry extension can be reversed with it.

Disclaimers

The service is provided as available. Previews depend on the visitor's browser. ShareKit does not transcode video or audio, and a file extension on the inline list does not mean every browser can play it. Storage and delivery use Cloudflare, including R2 for file bytes. Outages, deletion, and removal can interrupt access.

To the extent the law allows, ShareKit and Melis are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost files, lost profits, or decisions you made because a link was available. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including rights you have as a consumer where those rights cannot be waived.

Changes

These terms can be updated by posting a new version on this page and changing the effective date. If you keep using ShareKit after that date, you are using it under the updated terms. Material changes will also be noted on this page. Continued use is the notice. There is no separate mailing list for term changes.
